The plot centers around writer Kostya Inozemtsev. In 2006, he wrote "COMA" — a novel about clubbers and drug addicts life that became one of 2000s top hits. Fifteen years later, Kostya managed to lose his former popularity and money, to ruin his health, though in spite of this he keeps living as if it still was 2007, and he would be the best-selling writer in the country. Every day his inner world collides with the modern reality — zoomers, new ethics, feminists, though Kostya does not give up — remaining in the brave new world a relic from the late nineties: moderate homophobia, machismo, jokes on the edge, anti healthy lifestyle.
We find Kostya receiving an unexpected offer to head a new magazine that comes from a high-ranking manager of a large media holding, Gorelkin. The former magazine called "IDOL" has its license revoked, and Gorelkin plans to relaunch it — by creating a Russian version of this same magazine under a different name. Gorelkin believes that Kostya will be able to make a big splash with the first issue and even promises to make Inozemtsev a partner if it takes off.
After deliberation, Kostya takes the offer and finds himself in a previously unfamiliar world of dying glamour, editorial boards, office relationships, photo shoots, "Insta-divas" and cover selection. Kostya is not versed in this world at all, but pretends that he knows it thoroughly and even comes up with a new name for the magazine — "LAMP".
Over time, Kostya starts perceiving the revival of the magazine as a personal challenge, as a comeback to the world of the rich and famous, from where he has temporarily fallen out. By saving the magazine and restarting it, Kostya restarts his own life: restores his reputation, revives relationships with people and finds love.
